Zagora Desert Excursion - 2 Days
Tour description: Short exploring of High Atlas Mountains and Draa Valley to the remote Sahara Berber village, passing through oasis, palm trees, water streams and Berber villages. Traces of the past that still survive today.
Duration: 2 days / 1 night.
Starting point: Marrakech.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Draa valley – Zagora.
Departure early morning passing overwhelming valleys and red flat mountains. The scenery soon changes into the High Atlas mountains crossing the Tizi N‘Tichka (2260 m a.s.l.), from there we drive through Ighrem, Agouime and Amerzgan, Berber Atlas villages, to reach the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. Visit of the Kasbah and stop for lunch at a local panoramic restaurant.
We continue across Ouarzazate with its Film Studios and on through the massif of the Anti-Atlas mountains (Tizi N’Tniffift), Agdez and Draa with the luscious palm plantations (over 11 million palm trees).
In Zagora, camelback riding (1.5 hours) to admire the sunset and stay overnight in a Berber tent in the surroundings.
Day 2: Zagora – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech.
Early wake-up to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes, camel riding back to Zagora then by car back to Ouarzazate. Visit to the Taourirt Kasbah and lunch. Afternoon in Marrakech.
